Chris Riggs

Bio

Chris Riggs enters his 14th season coaching and returns this season for his second season at BGHS. Coach Riggs previously served as Defensive Coordinator and strength coach at Warren East High School from 2018-2022. Warren East achieved an undefeated regular season, a 12-1 record and a district championship in 2022. Under Coach Riggs the Warren East defense allowed 17 points/game and forced 41 turnovers during the 2022 season. Prior to his time at Warren East, he spent 5 seasons at Greenwood High School from 2013-2017 as special teams coordinator, strength coach and inside linebackers coach. He started his coaching career at Bowling Green High as a defensive quality control coach/freshman defensive coordinator during the 2011-2012 season. The Purples went 30-0 and won back-to-back states titles during that time.
Coach Riggs is a 2008 graduate from Spencer County High School, where he was an all-state running back/linebacker and was awarded district player of the year his senior season. He graduated from WKU in 2012 and was a walk-on on the football team from 2008-2010. Coach Riggs has been married to his wife, Caitlyn, for 6 years and have 1 son, Tate(1). He works as a registered nurse in the Cardiac Cath lab at Greenview Regional Hospital.
